PLAGIARISM AND CONFLICTS OF INTEREST (COI)

The International Journal on Technical and Physical Problems of Engineering (IJTPE) is committed to promoting ethical publishing practices and maintaining the integrity of the scientific record. This policy outlines our stance on plagiarism and conflicts of interest, and the responsibilities of authors, reviewers, and editors.

1. Plagiarism Policy

- IJTPE defines plagiarism as the presentation of others’ ideas, words, data, or work as one’s own without proper attribution, including:

* Direct copying of text without quotation marks or citation.

* Paraphrasing without acknowledgment.

* Reusing substantial parts of one’s own previously published work (self-plagiarism) without disclosure.

- All submitted manuscripts are screened for plagiarism using reliable detection software (e.g., iThenticate, Turnitin).

- The Similarity Index Report (SIR) or plagiarism percentage of submitted manuscripts must be below 5% for a paper to proceed to peer review.

- Proven cases of plagiarism after publication will lead to article retraction and notification of the authors’ institutions or funders.

- Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of their manuscripts and properly citing all sources.

>>> To meet this requirement, authors should:

- Rephrase or rewrite any highlighted sentences or paragraphs identified in the SIR using original scientific language and interpretation, even if mathematical expressions are included.

- Avoid direct copying of definitions, standard textbook descriptions, or previously published content; instead, explain concepts in the specific context of the study.

- Retain mathematical symbols and method names where necessary, but ensure that all surrounding explanations are fully original.

- After making revisions, authors must recheck the manuscript using a trusted plagiarism detection service (e.g., iThenticate.com) and provide an updated SIR with their revised manuscript.

- The updated SIR should include a clear breakdown of similarity sources and percentages, allowing the editorial team to validate that plagiarism concerns have been properly addressed.

- Manuscripts with a final SIR exceeding 5% or showing evidence of plagiarism will be rejected, and serious cases may result in notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions.

2. Conflicts of Interest Policy

- Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional relationships that could be perceived as influencing their research or interpretation of results. This includes but is not limited to:

* Funding from commercial entities.

* Employment or consultancies with organizations that could benefit from the findings.

* Personal or institutional relationships with other authors.

- Reviewers are required to disclose any conflicts of interest before accepting an invitation to review a manuscript. If a conflict exists, they should decline the review.

- Editors must avoid handling manuscripts where they have conflicts of interest and must recuse themselves to ensure unbiased editorial decisions.

- Disclosed conflicts will be considered during the editorial process and published with the article if relevant.

3. Disclosure Statement

- All authors may include a Conflict of Interest Statement in their manuscript, either declaring no conflicts or specifying any relevant relationships, if it is necessary.

4. Management of Conflicts

- The editorial board will evaluate disclosed conflicts and determine appropriate actions to ensure transparency and integrity, which may include assigning an alternative editor or requesting additional reviewer input.

5. Ethics Compliance

- IJTPE follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) guidelines for handling allegations of plagiarism and conflicts of interest.

- Suspected misconduct will be investigated confidentially and fairly, and actions such as rejection, correction, retraction, or institutional notification may be taken depending on the severity.
